It Takes a Village to Run a Business

Several years ago, then First Lady Hillary Clinton made a statement that rings true to this day, “It takes a village to raise a child.” This idea was used to drive home the fact that children need input, encouragement and direction from many different sources. These sources include parents and guardians, educators, community leaders, mentors and role models. This concept drives home the fact that a child doesn’t raise themselves to be a productive citizen and all-around decent person, they have help and lots of it.
The same principle applies to your business. Sure, your idea may be unique, but the way you bring that idea to market and watch it grow into something substantial doesn’t just appear to you in a dream, you have to search for it and apply it and then test it and sometimes you have to trash it and start over. This is the reality of how getting your business out there works and how you make your business successful.
These days you don’t have the luxury of waiting to see if things will work because everything moves at lightning speed. This faster pace doesn’t allow for much trial and error before you crash and burn, so you have to turn to trusted sources; the mentors and experts who have gone through the trials and tribulations of getting their own business started and running it successfully. You look for the people that are doing what you want to do and you follow them, immulate them and work with them.
When we started Creative Services International, Inc. (CSI) over 20 years ago, running a business had a tried and true set of rules, practices and strategies. These strategies had been around for decades and basically, it was just how you did things, so we followed along, for a while. But then we realized that those strategies didn’t work for us and the way we wanted to do things.
You see, we are a web design company. We build websites for business owners who want to use their website to get clients. Back then, that concept was new and kind of “out there.” Business owners that ventured out and created a website for their business were pioneers embarking on a new adventure in the strange land of cyberspace. We saw the trend and we hopped on. To us, it was amazing and still is!
Fast forward to today and one of the first things you do when you start your business is create a website. Actually, if you don’t have a website, you aren’t considered to be a legitimate business.
Listen closely, today, it’s not enough to have a website, you have to have a website that gets clients!
It’s not enough to “throw up” a “brochure” site that just sits there and displays information. Your website has to DO SOMETHING.
Your website must:

  • welcome your visitors,
  • answer their questions,
  • provide the information they are looking for in a simple way that they can digest quickly and easily,
  • capture visitors’ information so you can “continue the conversation” through informative and interesting emails,
  • tell or show your visitor what to do to get more,
  • give them a reason to want more.

I know that is a lot of pressure to put on your website, but that’s what it’s there for.

  • To guide
  • To inform
  • To enlighten
  • And to Sell!

Because your website is the hub of your business.
It’s where everyone is sent when they click on a social media link or read one of your articles and want to learn more about what you do or want to do some research before they hire you. This is where your audience comes to find the What, Who and How about you and your business and you better be ready. You won’t have much time to convince them once they land on your site.

  • If your website doesn’t provide the answer to the questions your target audience is asking…
  • If your website doesn’t get clients…
  • If your website doesn’t scream WOW!…

You need to schedule your Online WOW! Assessment with me. Together, we will go through your present website to determine if you need to re-design or build the website you need that gets you clients.

P.S.: Don’t settle for a website that’s less than. You deserve a website that WOWs and gets you clients. There’s no time to waste, ever second you delay is another sale you could have closed.
