3 Keys to Selling Using Social Media

 

Let’s get this out of the way. Yes, there are a lot of people who’ve made tremendous amounts of money via social media. But if you think you can create a couple posts, share a video or two and start raking in tons of moolah, I’m sorry to tell you, it ain’t happening. If you are one of the people who believe the hype that thousands or even millions of followers means you’ve hit “pay dirt,” you’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, lied to, and led astray.

The truth is, there are 3 Key Reasons that people buy from you via social media, they are:

  1. They Know, Like, and Trust you
  2. They’ve built or are looking to build a relationship with you
  3. They are convinced that your product or service will stop their pain or solve their problem

Yes, it’s really that simple.

You see, people buy to solve a problem, sometimes they don’t even know they have the problem, until they “meet you” or see your post, video, article, or what have you.

Sometimes they absolutely know what the problem or pain point is and then they find you and your solution, so they buy.

And other times, they know they have the problem and want to get rid of the pain, but they’re not quite ready to do anything about it. Even when the solution is staring them in the face.

 

And others don’t care about the problem or the solution and therefore will never purchase from you.

Breaking Down the Buying Numbers

But, don’t be discouraged, I wrote this article to encourage you to keep moving forward and seeking–not chasing–the audience who will buy. It all boils down to numbers. You see, 10% of the people you encounter on social media are ready to buy right now because they are actively seeking a solution. So when they encounter you and you show them that you can solve their problem, BOOM! out comes the credit card. 20% of the people don’t care about your solution and will never purchase. They may like, share, or comment, but that’s as far as they’ll go. But the remaining 70% are either aware of their problem and know they need to do something, or can be made aware because of the informative material they get from you.

Why the 70% is More Important Than the 10%

. . . Because EVERYONE is after the 10% of people who are ready to buy. Wouldn’t you be? They KNOW they have a problem and they’re READY to find a solution. And that means, their fingers are ready to push the BUY button.

BUT, and this is a big BUT, EVERYONE is gunning for them. That means they have a choice of who to buy from. Actually, they have choices, with an “s.” They’re in the driver’s seat and calling all the shots. And they probably won’t pay full price, because when there are lots of choices, sellers try to stand out by cutting prices. That’s great for the 10%, but not for you, because you’re losing money, just to get them to buy. Now, there’s nothing wrong with throwing your hat in the 10% arena, but check this out . . .

What if you intentionally go for the 70%? These people are either aware they have a problem but aren’t necessarily actively seeking a solution or are the ones who have no idea they have a problem until you show them.

This is the sweet spot!

This is where you can make your mark and see success.

I can’t emphasize this enough, while everyone else is chasing the 10%, you, the expert, are intentionally reeling in the 70% who will not only buy from you, but continue to buy over and over again. They will become Ravin’ Fans, those fans buy over and over and over and then they tell others about you and urge them to buy from you too.
