[dropcap]L[/dropcap]inda Collett has been a presence in my life for a number of years. It all began when I attended an event where she was speaking about keeping your business legally safe. I was so impressed with her and the information she shared that I sought her out after she spoke and invited her to coffee. That was over 8 years ago. Since then we’ve created business for each other, hosted an awesome symposium together, and become entwined in the inner workings of the fabulous women’s business networking organization, ProWIN. I’ve learned that you may not always know where your actions will lead, but I’m glad that I’m always open to possibilities. Thanks for being in my tribe Linda.
As a business attorney Linda helps business owners avoid the stress and expense of legal problems so they can focus their time, energy, and money on running and growing their business. She also is the creator of the Exit Strategy Success System℠, a program that helps service company owners sell their company.
As an attorney, Linda uses her legal knowledge and a collaborative approach to provide owners of sole proprietorships to multi-million dollar companies with the information they need to confidently make business decisions and take business risks.
Linda’s well-written, plain English contracts give her clients (1) greater confidence in their business dealings because they understand the agreements they are signing and (2) peace of mind because Linda’s contracts minimize potential disputes and litigation, which frees up her clients to focus their time, energy and money on taking their business to the next level.
Using her natural project management skills, Linda has led many projects throughout her career such as managing multiple resources to meet the implementation deadline of a technology project for a multi-million dollar client after all project milestones had been missed the previous 1.5 years under different management.
Her natural skill in project management led to her interest in strategic planning and her study of the Drivers Model strategic planning process that helps businesses bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. As a certified coach with over 300 hours of training and study, Linda combined her coaching skills with her project management abilities, her strategic planning knowledge, and her legal expertise to create the Exit Strategy Success System℠, a comprehensive four-phase program that helps service company owners sell their company for top dollar in 3 – 5 years.
Linda understands that successful business owners regularly face challenges and take risks and is no stranger to seeking out challenges and taking risks in her own life, career, and business. After spending 17 years in the corporate world, Linda left her high-paying job as an Assistant Vice President in Risk Management Technologies for Marsh, Inc., a global insurance brokerage firm, to take on law school at the age of 42. Three challenging and enjoyable (truly!) years later she graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law. When she was unexpectedly laid off from her Associate Attorney position in 2008 due to that firm’s declining business, Linda boldly decided to risk opening her own law firm despite the declining economy and her lack of experience running a business. Today, she is proud to have a growing business that continually challenges her and gives her lots of opportunities for continued personal and professional growth.
Linda is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia. She also serves on the
Advisory Board of ProWIN, a non-profit organization of influential businesswomen in Atlanta. Prior to the Advisory Board, Linda served on ProWIN’s Board of Directors for 6 years and as its President in 2013. One of the highlights of her year as President was facilitating some strategic planning exercises at the annual Board retreat, the results of which are still being used by the organization today.
Linda enjoys teaching and public speaking and has been a guest speaker for various business groups in the Atlanta area. For several years she taught the “Legal Issues for Small Businesses” course offered by the Kennesaw State University Small Business Development Center and continues to teach for the KSU SBDC as needed. To learn more about Linda’s work as a public speaker and teacher, please visit her Public Speaking page.
Growing up in California, Linda received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. She lived in California until her employer at the time moved her to Chicago in 1996 and then brought her to its global headquarters in Atlanta in 1998. She now lives in East Cobb with her long-haired dachshund, Bodhi.
