If you don’t have a website, you don’t have a business. That’s the sentiment of most people who are looking for businesses to patronize. It wasn’t always this way. Waaay back in the early nineties, no one knew what a website was. When the WWW or World Wide Web was introduced, people were a little skiddish about trying it out. But then, savvy, fearless entrepreneurs saw the opportunity and jumped on it. My husband, Alvin and I were part of that group of early adapters. We started CSI (Creative Services International, Inc.) to help other entrepreneurs take advantage of this new frontier.
Not every business had a website, for a long time, but now, it’s a necessary part of your start-up tool kit.
Not All Websites Are The Same
Alas, not all businesses have, at the minimum, a good website: one that communicates with your web visitors and answers some of their questions. And most businesses definitely don’t have a WOW! Website. That’s the type of website that not only answers your ideal prospects’ questions when they hit your website, but is set up to search for, find, and bring your ideal prospects to your website, then closes them with the right CTA (Call To Action).
That’s how your website makes you money, by closing deals!
Let’s explore how your website can close more sales for you, while you’re sleeping, working out, or even watching TV with your feet up.
Give BEFORE You Ask
Don’t you just love presents? That’s what you need to do for your website visitors, give them something. Not just any something, it has to be useful for them. It has to help them in their business or personal life to solve their problem right way. Oh and it needs to deliver some type of result and it can’t take them long to implement. The result they get is related to the services and products you provide and the solution they are looking for. This freebie can be a video, audio, PDF, cheat sheet, checklist or some other actionable item. What do you get in return for this gift? Their name and email address.
Why is this important?
If you don’t have the contact information of your ideal prospects and potential clients, you can’t sell to them. It’s been proven that it can take as many as twenty-one touches for your ideal prospect to become your ideal client or customer.
- Hitting your website is #1.
- Downloading your Freebie is #2.
- Consistently connecting with these ideal prospects through email marketing provides the bulk of the needed touches to convert prospects into clients.
- But you have to get their contact information before you can continue to communicate with them.
Provide Massive Value
People buy from other people and in particular from people they Know, Like, and Trust. You know for yourself that trust doesn’t come easily or quickly and if you want people to drop by your website and open up their wallet, you have to give them exactly what they’re looking for and plenty of it.
Massive value means that you put it all on the table, all your knowledge, tips, tricks, and hacks. You don’t just give the “what,” you’re also providing the “how,” in certain instances. I was watching a Facebook Live when Branding expert Jai Stone expressed that you have to provide more than what people can “Google.” It may hurt your heart a little, but it’s important and needed. Because by providing massive value with your tips and tricks, along with how to do it, you are showing people that you aren’t scared to share your knowledge. It also puts you above the rest of the people who are only scratching the surface with the information they share. So if you are going beyond people will recognize that and appreciate it.
Why is this important?
Giving your all, in the information you put out, secures your spot as the authority in your niche. And it shows your followers that you are willing to give them what they need to succeed, when no one else is willing to share their expertise to this level. When you aren’t afraid to bear it all, people see you as fearless. Who doesn’t want to work with someone who is fearless?
So now you know “what” to do, but “how” do you accomplish this task of making money with your website?
Through your blog.
I see your confused look, through my blog?? I thought my blog was just a place that I published a few articles, when I felt like it. Or maybe I post a blog every now and then when I have an event coming up?
Well, not enough at all.
Your blog is THE vehicle you use to assert your authority, communicate your expertise with your audience, and solidify the fact that you ARE the one and only expert who has the solution to your audience’s problem.
From the get-go, using your blog and your website communicates with your target audience. Every post, video, sentence, and section offers clues to your ideal prospects that you know what their pain is; what’s keeping them awake at night AND that you have the solution.
Since you already know what the questions are, your blog provides answers in several different formats:
- Video
- Reports
- E-books
- Consultations
- Checklists
You can show them you are the expert, the leader, the one they need to work with. Your website offers comparisons, charts, graphs and/or survey results in the form of blog posts, articles and podcasts that showcase your knowledge and expertise. You don’t have to trash your competitors; you simply show why what you offer is superior to what’s on the market now.
Nothing stands out better than a powerful testimonial about how you doing what you do worked for another client. If people are bragging on you, others will listen and buy JUST because of the social proof you offer. It’s about building the confidence of the future purchaser that they ARE making the right decision.
All the “pretty” websites in the world are useless if they don’t close deals. In the end you’re talking money, but closing deals doesn’t always involve money. It takes a buyer seeing your offers, reading your posts and articles and diving into your content several times before the majority decides to purchase. Remember, I said that on average, they need to be “touched” by you as many as twenty-one times. I gave you a couple examples earlier, but check this out, touches can happen in several ways:
- They WATCH a video of you explaining how your product or service works.
- They READ your newsletter.
- They LIKE a post.
- They SHARE a quote you put on Twitter.
- They RESONATE with something you said or wrote and BOOM! they knew it was time to seal the deal by opening their virtual wallet and making a purchase.
Your website offers your audience the opportunity to:
- Get to KNOW you
- Figure out if they LIKE you
- Start to TRUST you
- Then DECIDE to buy from you
But the key factor in all their decisions is your website and your blog. Prospects expect you to have a website. But what they don’t expect or even know that what they are looking at is a WOW! Website.
A WOW! Website:
- Looks awesome and is branded with your colors, logo, and concepts
- Answers questions and provides the right information
- To the right audience
- In the right form
- At the right time
- Captures the name and email addresses of visitors so you can connect with them on a deeper level
- Showcases your awesome solutions to their problem
- Is up-to-date
- Presents YOU as the ONLY solution to take away your audience’s pain
The strategies that I’ve shared with you today are really only the start of what’s possible when you create a WOW! Website that gets clients.
Either way, it’s all about showing your audience you know what they want and you will solve their problem and stop their pain.
So does your website help you make money? Or is it a fact in you leaving money on the table?
- Do you capture the email addresses of your visitors?
- Do you have an amazing opt-in that your visitors can’t wait to get their hands on?
- Do you share your expertise and knowledge on your blog?
When your ideal prospect clicks through to your website, do they see a reflection of the true professional you are? Or do they see a site that’s less than? Not quite ready for Prime Time? Or just doesn’t measure up? If your website doesn’t do what I’ve shared with you today, you are missing out on money, plain and simple.
Stop leaving money on the table or missing out altogether by getting your website and your blog up to par to do the job that you created it to do.
